Newsletter 13th March 2020

What a busy week we have had in school! On Thursday we had the pleasure of welcoming two entire Open the Book teams to Collective Worship. They told us the story of the Last Supper and how Jesus and his disciples were thankful for the food they shared. It is always fantastic to see the Open the Book team bring these teachings to life.
We are keeping a weather eye on the latest updates regarding the Coronavirus. If we have to close school, we will be emailing parents with work for the children (and putting work on the website) – please ensure that we have your current contact details. Also the latest advice suggests that if anyone has a high temperature or a new, continuous cough they need to stay at home for 7 days. To keep up with the latest advice as it emerges, please click here.
Last week, Class 1 put on their chef aprons for DT and made their delicious pizzas. Thank you so much to Mrs Parker for all her hard work behind the scenes of our Class 1 café! This week we have also had a creative week focusing on the signs of Spring for our art work. We went on a walk around the school grounds to explore the signs of Spring before creating our Spring sculptures.
Mrs Stokes says: Class 2 enjoyed a superb trip to the Tudor residence of Bolling Hall. They stepped back in time and learnt about the Tudor way of life during the reign of Elizabeth I through the eyes of a maid and a travelling player. The children were involved in acting out scenes, immersed in the history of Tudor life in the Hall and could handle objects from that period of time. A big thank you to Mrs Robinson and Mrs Scarborough for accompanying us on the visit and parents for providing such amazing outfits for the children to wear – it made a big difference!
We are still hoping that the Rural Schools Concert will happen on Friday – obviously we won’t know for definite until next week but at the moment the Royal Halls are following Government advice and are expecting the concert to go ahead. We have been asked to supply a luxury hamper. Please could all choir and Class 3 WOP members send in items such as chocolates, wines, toiletries etc. Thank you.
Mr Jones says: As some of you may know we have been lucky enough to receive a place to run in the Knaresborough Bed Race on Saturday 13th June 2020. There will be more details and updates coming soon. We will be running a competition to design a bed for the race so please feel free to start thinking of some ideas.
Our Christian Value this half term is Forgiveness and this week’s thought for the week is “forgiveness is a process. A choice you have to make over and over, every day, until you’re free of hurt.” This really made me think about how forgiveness is a truly active decision. I wonder if you feel the same about this?
Last half-term all classes enjoyed a cricket sessions as part of their PE lessons. Please see above if your child is interested in attending All Stars cricket at Pateley Bridge.
Thank you for all of the contributions for Sports Relief – we’ve raised a whopping £80!!!

Have a good weekend, whatever you’re up to!
