Newsletter 6th December 2019

Thank you to all of you who visited the new look website last week. In order to make the newsletter easier to read on a mobile phone (as I know that many of you choose to do this) you can click on the blog section https://www.dacrebraithwaite.n-yorks.sch.uk/blog where you can read it in a more screen friendly style. I would really love to have some comments about this school as testimonies for the front page, and who better to ask than our parents? Please could you email me any comments that you would be happy to have on the website, either about the school, or the staff or how your children feel about our school? (headteacher@dacrebraithwaite.n-yorks.sch.uk) Thank you!
On Monday, our Year 3 and 4 children took part in the Change for Life Sports event at Nidd High with St. Cuthbert’s school. Thank you to Mrs. Bradley and Mr. Jones who accompanied them and commented on how well the children did and what interesting activities Debbie Speed had planned for them.
Don’t forget to get your photo money in ready for Christmas orders! And don’t forget to keep the stamps from your Christmas cards for the collection box in the porch and then we can send them off to the Great North Air Ambulance. Thank you.
In our collective worship on Tuesday, we decorated our Christmas tree in the hall. As each child put their decoration on the tree I asked them to think about those people for whom Christmas may not be a happy time for all sorts of reasons and we said some prayers for them. We also talked about the Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendars that each class has and how we can all do a little to help each other in this busy time of year. We have agreed that we will have another collection for the Harrogate Food bank in order to help them over the Christmas period. They are currently short of: washing powder (ideally small pack sizes or pods/capsules); instant mashed potato; sponge pudding; shaving gel; toothpaste; shampoo but don’t need any more beans, pasta or soup. If you would like to support them, Colin will be collecting goodies on 16th December. Thank you.

It was great to see Lauren back in school again on Thursday and once again, she was accompanied by members from the Road Traffic police, Safety Camera officers, Fire and Rescue teams and this time - also the camera crew from ITV Calendar! We’ll let you know when it’s going to be broadcast!

As if that wasn’t exciting enough – on Thursday afternoon we had our Christmas Pantomime in school. The Magic Carpet Theatre Company brought us the Magic Circus production and the children and staff had a really good laugh! Well they say, laughter is the best form of medicine and we had plenty of it! Well done to Arthur, Seth, Lily, Rose and Daniel who acted brilliantly!
You will notice the Christingle Candle boxes coming home in the Bulletin Bags this week. Please consider filling them with donations and bring them with you to the School Christingle service on 19th – all children are invited to attend and it is a lovely school event just before Christmas.
The lists are out for Christmas party food – please sign up to send along your chosen goodies. Please make sure that all Parent pay accounts are settled before the end of term – thank you.
THis week's SilverStiX winner is George! - What a star he is!
This week’s ‘thought for the week’ says, “Only trust someone who can see these three things in you; the sorrow behind your smile; the love behind your anger and the reasons behind your silence.” Gosh, that’s a deep one to make us all think over the weekend
Have a good weekend – See you at the disco!
